San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2006.

Beim Wettbewerb "San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2006" gewann die Tequila-Marke Jose Cuervo 18 Preise: "Jose Cuervo sweeps the board at World Spirits Competition" von James Walker, in: Drinks Business Review Online vom 12. April 2006.

In der Pressemitteilung heißt es:
"This year, 20 judges tasted through spirits of 360 different brand classifications, presenting nearly 600 varying awards. Among the most prestigious awards, "Distiller of the Year" went to Laphroaig of Scotland; in addition Laphroaig?s 30 Year Old Single Malt Scotch was named "est in Show-Whisk(e)y." "Best of Show-White," was claimed by Plymouth Gin and Richard Hennessey Cognac received "Best of Show-Brandy." Chartreuse Green, Herbal Liqueur was named "Best in Show-Liqueur." "Importer of the Year" went to Diageo."

In addition to the premium awards, the best ranking spirit in each category was awarded a "Top" title. In the Brown Spirits category, Grand Pommier XS Calvados was named "Top Calvados" for the second year. White Spirits category winners include: Zyr Vodka as "Top Vodka"; also two-time winner Matusalem Clásico Rum took "Best Rum." For the second year in a row, El Tesoro Paradiso Tequila was honored as "Best Tequila". Grand Marnier?s Cuvée Speciale Cent Cinquantenaire received "Top Fruit Liqueur," adding to its previous two "Best Liqueur" awards.

Winners in the whisk(e)y category include: Jameson 12 Year Old Irish Whiskey as "Top Irish Whiskey," and Rittenhouse Bottled-in-Bond Rye Whiskey as "Top North American Whisk(e)y". Johnnie Walker Green Label Scotch was "Top Blended Scotch"."
